OLD SCHOOL...#UNASHAMED

Did you know that the most revolutionary fashion of the 60's born out of a quest for self identity has become a referral for unique and timeless fashion or even recap for iconic fun moments? Out of all the generations that continue to influence today’s culture there is only one decade revolutionary enough to be known as the 60’s.The large Afros, flared skirts, over sizes jackets, nerdy frames, socks, midi skirts and gowns that fit in just the right places;the Old School dressing sure has a place in the Fashion Hall of Fame.

These fun-filled students created a 60's atmosphere to commemorate their final year in the university. Classy yeah?..lol.

Introducing a replay of the 60's in the 21st century by Theatrical students of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria-Nigeria. It sure is permissible to breath out loud after been bound to the theater and dramatic literature for 4 years (not that that is really  a bother...lol)

Fine African sisters and brothers, helping us remember what fashion was all about, well, what it is still about."Your dresses should be tight enough to show you're a woman and loose enough to show you're a lady." —Edith Head

Marcus Garvey? nice hair cut bro

"In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different." —Coco Chanel

Humm? Epic school battle...lol. Kind of makes me wonder if this is an expression of the nerdy days....

"Fashion is the armor to survive the reality of everyday life." —Bill Cunningham

"A little bad taste is like a nice splash of paprika. We all need a splash of bad taste—it's hearty, it's healthy, it's physical. I think we could use more of it. No taste is what I'm against." —Diana Vreeland

"Playing dress-up begins at age five and never truly ends." —Kate Spade

"Anyone can get dressed up and glamorous, but it is how people dress in their days off that are the most intriguing." —Alexander Wang

"In difficult times, fashion is always outrageous." —Elsa Schiaparelli

How did we...well, we all make a statement to mark our graduation? I for one can remember nibbling on cream-filled biscuits..lol. Talk about turning up

VIKTOR AND ROLF

My first reaction to this unusual creations-WOW!!!. It is fabric birthed into a three dimensional roar. The emergence of flowers and branches...
Being and African has many advantages especially in this case as it allows the mind to surf around  various interpretations owing to the vast tribal nature of the typical African man. While this might be viewed as a pile of hay meshed and glued as an unrealistic hat, I see a tribal tie with the past and present, an incorporation of the man of nature and the modernized man, more characterized by his insatiable love for technology . Viktor and Rolf play around colours in their natural hues and elements. The three dimensional flowers on the green and red swing dresses propel realism of nature and the mental taste of the rich tropical forest.

The head piece while at first has a frightful distractions is a an essential element for the depiction of what I feel is the true Natural Man( reminds me of the typical Igbo man who suits up to draw his local drink at the top of a palm tree...lol). These Dutch designer have have thus crafted a spectacular approach to the interpretation of fashion beyond the cliché of fabrics. They indeed are designers who task creativity as did Alexander McQueen. Wearable Nature? Qui. This Spring 2015 collection is one of their mind daring design that challenges fashion comfort .

"Be daring, be different, be impractical, be anything that will assert integrity of purpose and imaginative vision against the play-it-safers, the creatures of the commonplace, the slaves of the ordinary."Cecil Beaton

'Fashion is the science of appearances, and it inspires one with the desire to seem rather than to be.' Edwin Hubbel

'Fashion anticipates, and elegance is a state of mind … a mirror of the time in which we live, a translation of the future, and should never be static.'Oleg Cassini

Its awesome fashion art...have a tribal weekend...xxxooo

ISABEL SANCHIS #2

Her Spring Summer 2015 collection was a jaw dropper and her 2014-2015 Spring Evening gown collection is no exception.  I Sometimes see  dresses and I wish they are my favorite food so I could just eat them up to savour the exquisiteness of its craft. or maybe it becomes a dreamy man so I can spend the rest of my life starring at it or him. lol.
I literally pledged my allegiance to flowery prints again  when I came across the skillfulness  with which Sanchis created  each dress in her 2015-2016 Spring Evening gown collection.. Even the simplest of  dresses have embellishments and cuts that transcends the ordinary into the quintessential. Its like a Cinderella story with a newness yet explored.

Her dresses are characterized by soft textures, warm colours, elegant cuts and fashion simplicity with a rare newness...be my guest...

This black jumpsuit is simply magnificent, toning down the vixen yet enhancing the independent woman. I must say, I am a fan of dresses that are not over all intimidating; a little of the intimidation and the feminine delicacy. QUI

On the note of remembrance,  this green dress (left-up) ...I dare to call the ROYAL COAT OF WAR...lol Dramatic? yeah, I can be sometimes.. She reminds me of a princess who cleans off her nail polish and picks up the sword. The knot at the wait and the loop at the neck it just the right amount a attitude the dress needs.

..and the mirage, this blue dress simple takes you from the cliche of elegance...

― Audrey Hepburn

....it was love at first sight for me. This is how to do sexy, elegant ,respectable and timeless all in on.

Style means no front at all.
Style means ultimate naturalness.
Style means one man alone with billions of men about.”
